Reflection of Light

While I was viewing myself in the mirror the other day, I realized that physics was taking place right in front of my eyes. When you look into a mirror light travels from the object to your eyes. The path of the light creates an angle of incidnece and an angle of reflection with the mirror. These two angles created determine whether you are able to see the image or not. Happy Mother's Day to all those loving mothers out there!

Beats

This past Monday my brother and I were playing songs together on the ukulele. Together, we were playing all the classics and the crowd was loving it. As we were playing together we were playing the songs at different frequencies, these different frequencies created beats. Beats are created when two unique frequencies are combined. Unfortunately my brother was not able to accompany me in this picture.

Sound Waves

As I was doing my normal singing practice that I do every Sunday I noticed some properties that we are currently learning in physics. As I began to sing higher and lower notes I realized that the frequency of the soundwaves were changing. This means that a note of higher frequency had a smaller wavelength then a note of lower frequency. I also realized that as I sang louder and softer this did not affect the frequency of the note I was singing. I love to sing.

Magnets

Today as I went to the refridgerator to help with dinner and I noticed some objects sticking to it. Those objects that I am pointing to are magnets. A magnet is an object that creates a magnetic field and exerts a magnetic force. A magnet has a north and a south poles\ and is strongest at the poles. Go Dodgers!

Current With Batteries

As I was playing Super Mario Land 2, which I do every Monday night, I realized that a current in the system was making it possible for me to play this great game. The two things needed to have a current is a voltage difference and a connection path. The electrons are flowing from the negative side of the battery to the positive side. As you can see I removed the battery cover so that you can easily view the batteries at work. President's Day is awsome.

Center Of Mass

Since baseball season is right around the corner I was packing all of my gear for our first practice tomorrow. As I was sorting through all of my equipment, I picked up one of my bats and was trying to balance it on one finger. As I played around I remembered the concept of center of mass. There must be support below the objects center of mass in order to keep it standing up and an object's center of mass does not have to be within the object itself it can be where there is no material. Seniors are the dodgeball champs!

Static

As I was brushing my hair on sunday, which I do daily three times a day, I noticed in the mirror that a patch of hair was standing on end after brushing. Each strand of hair in that patch had become negatively charged. Since objects with the same charge, either negative or positive, cause a repulsive force each strand of hair is trying to move away from the other one. This causes the patch a hair to stand up and be spread apart.
